Mr Rob Gornall was appointed as a consultant gynaecological surgeon by Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust in 2001. He studied at Manchester University and undertook surgical training with award of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. He then followed a career in gynaecology with training at the University Hospitals of Manchester, Southampton and Hammersmith/St Marys London. He has undertaken original research into the genetic causes of Ovarian and Breast Cancer for which he gained a DM.
He is a dedicated gynaecological specialist and in addition to managing common gynaecological conditions has a special interest in the investigation and treatment of possible uterine and ovarian tumours. He is one of the most experienced surgeons nationally undertaking total laparoscopic hysterectomy and along with 150 national specialists is formally accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologsts to undertake complex gynaecological cancer surgery.
He also a trained colposcopist to investigate abnormal cervical smears and manage precancer changes.
In addition to his clinical duties he is Medical Director for the 3 Counties Cancer Network providing cancer care for the populations of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South Worcestershire. He is married with 4 children and lives in the Cotswolds.
